Results of the Consultations:
1. At the Farmer's Market:
A straw poll was conducted at random: 141 complete

• As can be seen, the design and suggested
location on the Green were very strongly supported.
• 47% did not want it higher than 20 ft but 62% did not want it
lower.
• Conversely, 53% are indifferent or supportive of it being higher
compared to 38% smaller.
• Stainless steel was also strongly supported, but drew a number
of comments requesting a more mottled effect using a coating of bronze
and copper, which hadn’t been a choice in the questionnaire.
• See Appendix 2a for the exact totals in each category
• See Appendix 3 for a summary of the comments made.
2. Survey of the Traders:
75 traders responding to the survey, 97% were
in favour of the overall project.

• The results of this are even more conclusively in favour on
every account.
• Some comments were again recorded during the survey that the
use of bronze and copper might add to the design
• There was strong opposition to any other site as they wanted
to see the village centre become more of an attraction.
